Daily Panchang
Get accurate Tithi, Nakshatra, Yoga, Karana, and Muhurta timings based on your precise location. Plan your day with Vedic wisdom.
What is Daily Panchang?
Panchang (Sanskrit: पञ्चाङ्ग) is the traditional Hindu calendar and almanac that provides five essential elements of time: Tithi (lunar day), Nakshatra (constellation), Yoga (auspicious moment), Karana (half-day), and Vaara (weekday). Together, these five limbs form the foundation of all Vedic astrological calculations and ceremonial timing.
Our Daily Panchang tool calculates these five elements along with additional details like sunrise/sunset timings, Rahu Kalam, Yamaganda, Gulika Kalam, Abhijit Muhurta, and the Hora chart — all calibrated to your precise geographical location. Unlike generic panchang websites, our calculations use precise sunrise timings based on your latitude and longitude for authentic results.
Whether you are planning a wedding, starting a new business, traveling, or performing a religious ceremony, checking the Panchang ensures you align your activities with favorable cosmic energies. The Panchang also reveals which periods to avoid (such as Rahu Kalam) and the most auspicious window (Abhijit Muhurta) for important undertakings.
How to Use This Tool
Follow these simple steps to get your personalized analysis.
Allow location access or search for your city to automatically set your latitude and longitude.
Select a date — today's date is selected by default, but you can check any past or future date.
Review the main panchang grid showing Tithi, Nakshatra, Yoga, Karana, Moon Sign, and Sun Sign.
Check the Auspicious & Inauspicious timings section for Rahu Kalam, Yamaganda, Gulika Kalam, and Abhijit Muhurta.
Use the Hora chart to find which planetary hour is active now and plan your activities accordingly.
How It Works
The science and methodology behind the calculations.
Sunrise-Based Calculations
All panchang elements are calculated relative to the local sunrise time at your specific latitude and longitude. Sunrise is determined using accurate astronomical algorithms that account for atmospheric refraction, elevation, and the Equation of Time. The day is then divided into muhurtas (periods) for timing calculations.
Panchang — The Five Limbs
The five essential elements are: Tithi (the phase of the Moon relative to the Sun, 30 tithis make a lunar month), Nakshatra (the 27 lunar mansions through which the Moon transits), Yoga (a period calculated from the combined longitudes of the Sun and Moon), Karana (half of a tithi, 11 karanas cycle through the month), and Vaara (the weekday, each ruled by a specific planet from Sun to Saturn).
Inauspicious Periods
Rahu Kalam, Yamaganda, and Gulika Kalam are three inauspicious time periods that occur daily. Each one occupies one-eighth of the daytime (from sunrise to sunset), and their positions rotate based on the weekday. These periods are traditionally avoided for starting new ventures, signing contracts, travel, marriage, financial transactions, and medical procedures.
Abhijit Muhurta and Hora
Abhijit Muhurta is the most auspicious 48-minute period of the day, occurring around local noon (the 8th muhurta of 15 daytime divisions). Hora refers to planetary hours — each day and night is divided into 12 hora periods, each ruled by a planet in sequence. Benefic horas (Jupiter, Venus, Mercury, Moon) are favorable for important work, while malefic horas (Sun, Mars, Saturn) may present challenges.
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about this tool.
Amanta (South Indian) months end on the New Moon (Amavasya), while Purnimanta (North Indian) months end on the Full Moon (Purnima). This means Purnimanta months start approximately 15 days earlier than Amanta months. Both systems are valid but used in different regions of India.
Abhijit Muhurta occurs when the Sun is at its zenith (local noon), representing the peak of solar energy. This period is considered highly auspicious because it falls at the junction of the day's first and second halves and is never invalidated by any inauspicious influence. It is the only muhurta that is always auspicious, regardless of the day.
Rahu Kalam is ruled by the shadow planet Rahu, which is considered malefic. During this period, avoid starting new projects, signing contracts, making financial investments, purchasing property, planning weddings, beginning travel, and performing medical procedures. It is best used for routine tasks, rest, or spiritual practices like meditation.
Yes, significantly. Sunrise and sunset times vary based on latitude and longitude, which affects all panchang calculations. Tithi end times, nakshatra transitions, and muhurta timings all shift based on your location. This is why our Panchang uses your precise coordinates rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
Hora (planetary hour) affects the energy of each hour of the day. Starting a task during a hora ruled by a planet that supports that activity can bring better results. For example, Jupiter's hora is excellent for education and financial planning, Venus for romance and creative work, Moon for emotional matters, and Mercury for communication and contracts.
